MARIN

Oh, so sorry........ We introduced our rats..... not us...................

My name is Marin, obviously. I like Minecraft, Blogging, Roblox, and of course, rats!! (I also like any other animals.) I will stretch the truth in many ways (Ask Clara) And this is why;

My sister's hamster pooped on my rats and my rats were blinded by it so they ran into a wall and hit their head and passed out and when they woke up they were in a room they had never seen before and I was searching everywhere for them when I got a rug burn because the day before I have set up a booby trap to capture a burglar that was well known and wanted something from my room and he had kidnapped Obama (So sad) and I was so upset by it that I kicked a wall and I broke my foot so we had to go to the emergency room when the docter said that I had a rare case of No-Blogging-itis because I didn't blog for a month and I got so shocked that I went in a coma and I dreamt that........

If your rat hammock smells like poop.....

If your rat hammock smells like poop... (Please excuse my non-lady like gestures) look at this!!!

So what I do when my room starts smelling like a sewer... (Sorry ratikinns) It's partly the hammock.

And the platforms...

And the rats....

Ways to prevent that from happening is...

For the hammocks, get two of them. Place one in your rat cage (Duh) And when that one smells bad, replace it with the other one. While that clean one is developing serious stink, clean up the first one by either putting it in the laundry (Make sure it's safe first) or hosing it off. When the second one smells bad, replace it with the clean one. Keep doing that.

For the rats...

Simply wash them every month or so with the directions from the Bath Time post.

For the platforms, get baby wipes and wipe them off 2 times a day.

Clean your rat's cage every week.

XOXO

Deciding if you would like a pet rat… With Clara

Hey Guys! Clara Here!!

Thinking about getting a pet rat?

Not sure if you have the right life style?

What are pet rats like?

What am I required to do, having a pet rat?

I will answer all of your questions.. don't worry.

Supplies required for having rats:

Water bottle filled with fresh water every day

Small pet bowls

Kibble (You need to refill it every day)

Fruits and Veggies

At least 2 rats

A large cage (HAMSTER CAGES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE)

Fresh bedding every week

A cage cleaning every week

hammocks and tunnels

Levels in their cage

A bunch of attention!!

Lots of love!

Occasional baths

And a wheel, witch is pretty much optional,

If you are still reading, you are probably okay with this list.
Your rats will need much more attention than hamsters, you will need to take them out and let them run around frequently. If cared for properly your rat will become your BFF. They love to cuddle and explore you and your house, and over time they get even more and more comfortable with you, you can even teach them tricks!!
Rats are excellent first pets for responsible children who are able to properly care for, and handle your pet rats.

Where to get your pet rats from: Do not get your pet rats from a large chain petstore. Where they come from is a cruel, harsh environment, their parents are mass bred. Basically, the cute baby rats are sent to pet stores, and the less cute ones are sent to be sold as snake dinner.. ):
Also, almost all rats from large chain pet stores have multiple diseases, and may die within the first month you have them.

Look online for a rat breeder in your area. If there are no suitable breeders in your area, look on an adoption website and see if there are any rats you can adopt from people who can no longer care for their rats.

Pet rats  are amazing, fluffy, or not so fluffy if its a hairless rat, little creatures. You will fall in love with their twitchy whiskers, and their sassy personalities.

                                  GO PET RATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cage Decorating!!!

Hello!

Today I will give some brief ideas on how to add some pazzazz to your rat cage.

Have any small cereal, cracker, or cardboard boxes? Cut multiple holes in each one and set them in your rat cage. Your rats will love crawling in and out of these fun houses!!

Get or make some hammocks!! You can either get a hammock at most pet stores, or you can also make one by sewing fabric into a thick square and adding clasps on each point.

Chew toys! Like all small rodents, Rats need to, well, pretty much saw down their teeth. And if they don't, their teeth will grow too long and many problems will occur…
Wood blocks purchased from the pet store are usually a great choice. However DO NOT USE PINE OR CEDAR, THEY CONTAIN CHEMICALS THAT CAN FATILY HARM YOUR RAT.
And as for painted wood being chewed by your rat, well, thats really your opinion. But personally, do you really want your rats chewing on dye or paint? Just saying….
So for my rats, Un-painted wood other than Cedar or Pine are the way to go.

Add tunnels, slides, platforms made of various materials, and your your rat cage is sure to have that desired Sparkle!!!

Bath #2

Okay, so, if your rats still can not stand being in the water,
your arm is being ripped up,
and your rats smell like old cheese,
Please continue reading….

In this post I will tell you how I bathe my rats.

1.Open a drawer. (dresser drawer, bathroom drawer etc.)

2.lay a old towel over the drawer covering the bottom and sides of the drawer.

3.Get a cup of warm water and lay it next to the drawer.

4. Grab some baby or pet soap and set it next to the drawer.

5. Take a bag of your rats favorite treats and lay it next to the drawer.

6. Set your rat in the drawer.
(Space-wise, it is really better to do one rat at a time, but I suppose you could do more.)

7.Slowly pour the warm water over your rat and take a tiny drop of soap and massage it in.

8. While you are doing this, repeatedly give your rat treats.

9. You can also take a soft old toothbrush and gently scrub your rat.

10. Take more warm water to wash the soap out of your wet-non-fluffy-but-adorable-rat and wrap them in a warm towel to help dry them off.

11. hold your rat and massage your rats fur with the towel until your rat is mostly dry.

Now You Can Enjoy Your Fluffy Rat!!

XOXO
